Laurie Yntema, MD
Medical DirectorDr. Yntema earned her medical degree at the University of Vermont. She completed her residency in Internal medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland ME and then proceeded to a 17-year stint as a primary care doctor at Ellsworth Internal Medicine. During those years she worked a couple days each month in the local nursing facilities attending her own patients and patients of her colleagues as well as a week a month at Maine Coast Hospital. After 15 years, she became Medical Director at two local facilities due to other local physicians retirement or lack of interest. From the start, she found particular satisfaction in the provision of care to these populations. it laid the groundwork for her decision to transition to full time work at Community Care and Geriatrics of PCHC. Though she still misses the continuity of care afforded by her early years in medical practice, Dr. Yntema truly enjoys her current job. She lives in East Blue Hill with her husband, twin sons who are almost 18, two dogs, three cats, and innumerable bird feeders
